So sad Derek was a very prominent club bowler both indoor
and out for Watchet Bowls Club; Sadly he went downhill after the sad passing of
his beloved Barbara, They will both be sorely missed within Watchet and the
surrounding area Rest in Peace Both.

I am so sorry to hear the sad news about Derek Lynham he was
one of the members that took me under their wing when I first joined the club
he will be sadly missed
Stephen Gunner
Despite the health challenges that he was obviously facing, Derek’s determination
to remain part of the club was inspirational. May you now rest in peace Derek.

A
lovely man with a wicked sense of humour which not everyone understood, Derek
will be much missed at Watchet bowling club.

When i joined Watchet BC i found Derek to be a grumpy old man and then over the years i got to know him and the more i bowled with him i got to really like him, he went down hill over the last year but still came regularly up the club and bowled when able too, he will be sadly missed by many.
Ron Scott
My first game with him was in the Wednesday league and all i got was a tut and a sigh but after i started to improve i realised what a nice man he really was, only spoke to him a few weeks ago sleep well Derek xx
Sheila Collett
I was introduced to Derek on my first visit to the club. After bowling my very first wood, he yelled down the rink ”
TAKE THE GREEN “ This turned out to be one of his favourite phrases and now
part of Watchet Bowling Clubs’ heritage. Perhaps a fitting epitaph. Miss you Derek. RIP
Geoff Lees
So sorry to here he was a nice chap and enjoyed his

Jackie Hutchings

I feel very
privileged to have known both Barbara & Derek, they helped me when l first
joined the club. He had some cracking tales to tell & he lived for bowling.
I can still hear him shout "Take the green!" It was only a week ago
that he came to watch a match here, it was lovely to see him.
Jackie & John Eling.
Derek and I had many weekly roll
ups, both in and outdoors, where he taught me much about the
game of bowls for which I will always be eternally
grateful. As an ordinary bloke with a dry sense of humour I will miss him.

It was very sad to hear of Derek {take the green} Lynam`s passing. We joined
WBC in the same year. Derek managed to upset 1 or 2 people. but You could
never upset Him. He was a good bowler, and a friend. I won`t forget Him.
that`s for sure.
Tony Standing
Rest in peace Derek,
I'm going to miss you.
Josie Hooper

Derek
will be sorely missed by a great number of W.B.C. members. In
the early days of our present tournaments, Derek was always one of the first to
volunteer to assist with the catering. One
of our fondest memories, was being asked to join them for a meal at the Indian,
to celebrate their Diamond wedding anniversary. (Derek gave Barbara a Silver Wedding
card!!!) Now
united again. Rest in peace.
Mike & Norma Webber
I have very fond memories of Derek and his dry sense of
humour
